Dean Cain On ‘Supergirl’ Newcomers – New Superman Tyler Hoechlin & President Lynda Carter

Dean Cain is excited for the new season of
“Supergirl,” which makes its debut on The CW in October.

“The show is moving up to Vancouver now — it’s on The
CW instead of CBS, and that means I get to go up to Vancouver a couple times
and maybe do some interesting stuff. We’ll see, we’ll see,” he said when
Kit Hoover brought up the series as Dean co-hosted Access Hollywood Live with
Kit on Thursday. “This [season] will be an interesting year.”

The actor actually plays Kara Zor-EL’s (Melissa Benoist) Earth dad, Dr. Jeremiah Danvers, who was thought dead,
but is actually alive and being held at Project Cadmus.

Seeing Dean on
“Supergirl” has been a treat for fans, as he famously played Clark
Kent/Superman in television’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of
Superman” in the 1990s. On the next season of “Supergirl,” the show
will introduce Kara’s cousin, Clark Kent/Superman. It
was revealed last week that “Teen Wolf’s” Tyler Hoechlin will
play the character, and Kit asked Dean if he has
any advice for the latest actor to don the House of EL symbol of hope.

“Well, first of all, I’m a little disappointed it
wasn’t me. I wanted to play two roles,” Dean joked. “No, Tyler — my first
piece of advice for Tyler is — because he seems a little more hairy than me —
is that he’s going to have to wax his chest. … You can’t have any hair peeking
out over that ‘S’ there, but he gets to play it for a couple, I think maybe 2
episodes or 3 episodes.”

Dean wished Tyler luck in the role, and advised, “work
out, stay fit.”

“It’s pretty cool,” Dean added. “I don’t mind
that there’s new Supermen all the time. It’s a good thing.”

The actor also shared his enthusiasm over the news that
Lynda Carter is set to join the series as the President of the United States.

“I love the fact that Lynda Carter’s coming back to
play the President. That’s going to be really interesting too,” he said. “So check it out.”

He also had nothing but praise for the actress who plays his TV Earth daughter –
Melissa Benoist.

“She is so good. She is fantastic,” he said.

on The CW.
