Denise Richards On Spending Time With Charlie Sheen For Their Children: ‘We’ve Become Very, Very Good Friends’

Denise Richards spent some of the holidays with ex-husband Charlie Sheen and their two children together – Lola, 6, and Sam, 7 – and she said things are going well.

“It’s our ‘Modern Family,’ I suppose,” Denise told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover as she promoted her Eloise ShoeDazzle.com pump for charity on Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday. “Things are good. It was for the kids and it was a nice trip for all of us.”

Although Charlie’s behavior made headlines last year, things between the former couple are in a good place, the actress said.

“We’ve actually become like brother and sister, we really have,” Denise added. “We’ve become very, very good friends and we wanted to have a trip with our daughters – and it’s Christmas for them, so it’s good. When we all spend time together, it’s great for the kids and for us too. We actually get along.”

The mom, who will appear on “30 Rock” in two episodes this season, said the way she and Charlie get along is by focusing on their family.

“I think [the key is] making it about the kids. The stuff between the couple — if you’re divorced — it’s no longer about you anymore,” she said. “You have to be the bigger person and make it about the kids and so that’s what we’re doing.”

Denise’s ShoeDazzle pump, which retails for $39.95, and 100% of the proceeds go to the Kidney Cancer Association, is actually called the Eloise, and is named in honor of the newest addition to her family – Eloise, who she adopted last year.

“I love being a mom more than anything and I just knew that I wasn’t done and Eloise found me another way. She’s just such a blessing to me and my family,” Denise said.

And the actress said her oldest daughters are delighted to have another sibling in the fold.

“They actually fight over feeding her and picking out her outfits and all of that,” Denise said. “My daughters are very nurturing and they’re so in love with her and she’s just been such a wonderful blessing.”
