Denzel Washington Donates To Roswell Boys&Girls Club

Denzel Washington took time off from filming in New Mexico this week to present a $50,000 donation to the struggling Roswell Boys&Girls Club.

Washington, filming “The Book of Eli” in Albuquerque, heard through media reports that the club expected to close because of financial troubles.

The two-time Oscar winner — who’s a spokesman for Boys&Girls Club of America — decided to help.

He also challenged Roswell residents to match his donation.

The Roswell club’s director, Art Garcia, says says some community groups and private donors are responding, and Eastern New Mexico Medical Center donated $5,000.
