‘Desperate Housewives’ Cast Issues Joint Statement In Response To Nicollette Sheridan’s Lawsuit

Eva Longoria Parker has spoken out a few times since Nicollette Sheridan came forward with allegations of abuse on the set of “Desperate Housewives.”

Now, even more of the “Housewives” are speaking out in defense of show creator Marc Cherry, who Nicollette has accused in a lawsuit of allegedly striking her on the show’s set in 2008.

“It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing,” Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and Eva said in a joint statement on Tuesday. “We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicollette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterize our set as a hostile environment.

“It is, in fact, the opposite. The friendships and support that Marc Cherry, the cast, the crew and the producers have shared for the past six years have made this a wonderful job that we are grateful for every day,” the statement continued.

Additionally, while Nicollette’s lawsuit alleges that Marc Cherry also had harsh words for Teri, who plays Susan on the long-running ABC series, Teri individually expressed “concern” that the lawsuit referenced an alleged conversation Marc and Nicollette had, where the show creator allegedly said, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.”

“It is unfortunate and inappropriate that her attorneys have drawn the other ‘Housewives’ and Teri, specifically mentioned by name, into this action,” a separate statement from Teri read. “The use of Teri’s name in Ms. Sheridan’s claim was unauthorized.

Teri, herself, added that “While my adoration and respect for the classic and dynamic chemistry of the characters of Susan and Edie is indelible, I’m honored to stand with Eva, Felicity and Marcia, as a group and clarify that our set environment is nothing less than an amazingly positive experience. I have never felt discriminated against. In fact, I have felt heard and respected by Marc and other executives in regards to both my professional and personal needs.”

In an interview with AccessHollywood.com on Tuesday, show narrator Brenda Strong said although she was not always on the set, she never saw any misconduct from Marc.

“I’ve never witnessed any interaction between the two of them that would even illuminate that this would be a possibility. It’s kind of out of nowhere,” Brenda said. “The plausibility is kind of strange, but I personally would like to say I love working with Marc. I’ve never had an issue with him so this doesn’t seem like it fits to me.”
