Matt Damon sports a different look in his new sci-fi movie, “Elysium” – complete with a shaved head and numerous tattoos – but what did the star’s wife and kids think about his edgy style?
”[It] took a little getting used to, I think, you know, for the kids. But they thought it was cool,” he told Access Hollywood at the premiere of the movie in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The proud dad – who has four daughters – was happy to have his brood watch him transform each day for the Neill Blomkamp movie.
“They also could come to the set and watch it all,” he continued. “Watch my head getting shaved every day and the tattoos getting put on. So they thought it was fun.”
The actor is glad his movie will offer audiences something different in the midst of 2013’s summer of sequels.

“It’s not a superhero movie or, it’s not trying to be a franchise,” he told Access. “It’s just a big, original movie… I like when Hollywood does that.”
“Elysium” is currently in theaters.
