All is not well in The Shire!
“The Hobbit” director Peter Jackson was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night in Wellington, New Zealand, where he reportedly had surgery for a perforated ulcer, according to Entertainment Weekly.
A rep for New Line Cinema told the mag that the director was resting following the procedure and he is expect to make a full recovery.
Jackson’s surgery is reportedly only expected to slightly delay the start of shooting on “The Hobbit.”
The prequel to “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy stars Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf), British “The Office” vet Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins), Cate Blanchett (Galadriel), Andy Serkis (Gollum), Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield) and Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins). Orlando Bloom is also reportedly in talks to reprise his role as elf Legolas.
The first installment of “The Hobbit” is slated for theaters in December 2012 and the second is due in December 2013.
