Dish Of Salt: ‘Heroes’ Hoopla & A Matthew Dis! (October 24, 2006)

I just got done watching a new trailer for “Heroes” upcoming episodes. Wow! It blew me away. The tag line “Save the cheerleader. Save the world,” literally gave me and my supervisor chills.

This is amazing television.

After we finished watching it, our beautiful correspondent, Maria Menounos (who had just caught the tail end), said, “What was that?” She’d never seen the new NBC series but she knew she’d just watched something really, really cool.

On the flipside, I officially took “Studio 60” off my Tivo season pass this past weekend. Hey, I gave it four weeks. But I came to the realization that while it does have some fine moments, as a whole… it’s not as strong as it could be.

The creators forget that “Martha in Mississippi” and “Bobby in Idaho” haven’t a clue about rating shares and the female 18-to-34 demo. But the main reason I’m leaving the “Studio” is that it relies too much on the show-within-the-show’s comedy sketches that — let’s just be honest — aren’t that funny. Sure the Nancy Grace skit was performed well by actress Sarah Paulson —for the first two minutes — but by the end of the ten minute sketch I had called my best friend Tina, walked my dog, and watched the cliffhanger ending of “Heroes” again (and again and again).

Also can’t seem to forget the last time I interviewed one of it’s stars. Let’s just say I got dissed.

Tonight, I’ll be backstage at “Dancing with the Stars.” I predict Jerry will go home Wednesday night. I’ll miss him. I produced Access Hollywood’s exclusive interview with the talk show host and his pride and joy daughter Katie.

She impressed me. She had such a great attitude about life even though throughout her young life, she’s been living with several disabilities. I credit that positive attitude to her famous dad.

Sure we know he can break up a redneck fight like nobody else, but during this season of “Dancing” he’s reminded us that it’s not about winning… it’s about putting your best foot forward and seeing where it takes you.
