Dish Of Salt: Thursday TV Dish (Siobhan Talks ‘Idol’ Elimination)

She hit plenty of high notes throughout her tenure on “American Idol,” but last night Siobhan Magnus’ signature scream was silenced. This morning, the 20-year-old Cape Cod native chatted with reporters about her experience on the show. Plus, which former “Idol” winner helped her find her voice and why did the vampire theme (in last night’s Ford music video) fit perfectly into her world? It’s all in today’s Dish.

Siobhan’s Scream

So, just where did that signature open mouth wail come from you ask? Siobhan revealed it all started in the shower when she was in high school. “I’m an avid shower singer, much to the dismay of my family and my neighbors,” she chuckled. “I was singing a Kelly Clarkson song and I went to hit one note and I reached it and I was able to resonate it in a different part of my head.”

Her signature scream came in handy on “Idol” making her an early standout contestant. It won her many fans, but others were not as impressed. This morning, Siobhan said she was grateful to all her fans – good and bad. “I just want to say ‘Thank you’ to everyone who ever believed in me and supported me and even ‘Thank you’ to the people who were naysayers, because that made me fight harder to get to the point that I made it to.”

Early on, her over the top style had folks comparing her to last season’s stand out, Adam Lambert. Adam came back this season to mentor the contestants, which Siobhan said was a high point for her. “It was wicked flattering being compared to him,” she said. “His stage presence is just tremendous. It’s undeniable that he was born to do what he is doing. He knew first hand what it was like to be in our shoes and that was helpful because he was very sensitive to that. He knew just what to say and the things he said were so dead on. I really just tried to absorb every single thing he said — every moment that I had with him.”

Before she begins tour rehearsals, Siobhan will return home to Cape Cod. She’s expecting a huge family reunion. “I’m sure we will have a big family dinner. Family dinner for us means at least 30 people sitting down to dinner and babies and people of all ages.”

As for her plans moving forward, Siobhan revealed she aspires to one day be on Broadway or in an opera. However, her number one hope is one day being in a horror flick because she is fascinated by the special effects makeup. “I definitely aspire to at least make an appearance in a wicked, gory kind of horror film!”

It’s no wonder she seemed so at home playing a vampire in last night’s Ford music video. You can check that out HERE.

I’ll be one-on-one with Siobhan tomorrow morning where we will chat about her brand new tattoo and what she thinks of the petition to bring her back after a Facebook phone number snafu. View the petition HERE.
