Tonight marks the return of two of cable’s most popular shows. Plus, what “The Bachelorette” bully has to say about his behavior this week and his weatherman nemesis.
On TV Tonight
“Burn Notice” – Blacklisted spy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) returns for a fourth season. In tonight’s opener, Michael helps protect a lawyer against the city’s most dangerous biker gang. Meanwhile, he must team up with an unlikely ally to stop a looming terrorist threat but quickly finds that no mission comes without its price. Coby Bell (“Third Watch”) joins the cast as an expert counterintelligence agent who loves to fight bad guys as much as Michael does. The show moves to an earlier time slot. USA, 9 PM/8 C.
“Royal Pains” – Season two premieres tonight of this smart dramedy starring Mark Feuerstein as Hank Lawson, a doctor who has been blacklisted in the mainstream medical community and moves to the Hamptons to become a concierge doctor catering to the rich and spoiled. The show was the number new cable show of 2009… and for good reason. It’s definitely worth tuning in. Henry Winkler joins the cast this season as Hank’s dad. USA, 10 PM/9 C.
“Mall Cops of America” – Catch back to back new episodes of this TLC guilty pleasure about Minnesota mall cops protecting the Mall of America. First up, Sarah Palin visits the mall for a book signing and the cops deal with protestors, zealot followers, a bomb threat and a bounty hunter while trying to protect Palin. The second episode features the first screening of the “Twilight” movie as frenzied tweens and teens jam the multiplex for their first glimpse at Edward and Bella on the big screen. TLC, 10 PM ET/PT.
“Real Housewives of New York City” – Season three of the escapades of Manhattan’s cattiest reality stars wraps up with Jill and Bethenny trying to repair their fractured relationship, while Ramona renews her wedding vows with her husband Mario. Bravo, 10 PM ET/PT.
“So You Think You Can Dance” – The auditions continue tonight in Nashville and Dallas. Then it’s on to the all-important Las Vegas callbacks. FOX, 8 PM ET/PT.
“The Bachelorette” Bully
It was fairly obvious watching “The Bachelorette,” this week, that Toronto native Craig McKinnon clearly just wasn’t that into Ali Fedetowsky. On a conference call this morning with reporters, he fessed up to it. “Honestly, from the beginning I just wasn’t that into Ali,” he admitted. “I just had that natural feeling that Ali and I did not have a connection.” Of course, when Ali confronted him during the cocktail party about his lack of interest, he couldn’t tell her flat out “I’m just not that into you.” He just danced around it. Typical dude!
Craig was portrayed as the show’s bully as he repeatedly tortured Houston weatherman Jonathan. For his part, Craig said he was joking and having a good time and not being malicious. “I think Jonathan may be a little uptight. Probably a really good guy but he took things too serious,” he said.
So who does Craig feel is right for Ali? “Three guys I think would be a good pick,” he told reporters. “Kirk, for sure, is one. Roberto and Chris L. I think those three probably are a good fit for Ali. All three of those guys seemed very genuine for why they were there.”
“Toy” Time
Celebrate the return of the “Toy Story” franchise this weekend by catching up on the first two films. ABC Family presents “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2” on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6. During the films you can also catch exclusive first looks at this summer’s highly anticipated film “Toy Story 3” (in theaters on Friday, June 18).
“Downfall” Host Revealed
ABC announced today that pro wrestler Chris Jericho would host the summer extreme game show “Downfall.” In the six-episode, one-hour weekly series, the game will be played atop the roof of a downtown Los Angeles high-rise, where contestants will try to quickly answer a series of trivia questions against the clock in seven rounds. Fabricated facsimiles of all prizes will be placed on the largest conveyor belt ever seen on TV, with a pile of cash at the end that ranges from $5,000 to $1 million. In each round, players will try to answer all the questions before their prizes and cash go over the edge, off the roof and crashing 100 feet to the street below. If the cash goes over the side of the building, the game is over and that player is eliminated. The show premieres June 22.
