An “American Idol” contestant finds herself in trouble with the law. ABC has good news for fans of “Castle” and why celebrities may now admit to a fake romance. It’s all in today’s Dish.
When “Idols” Attack!
“American Idol” season six finalist Stephanie Edwards was arrested last night and charged with fighting in public in Savannah, Georgia, according to the Chatham County Sherriff’s Department. Edwards, a Savannah native, was busted around 10 PM last night in Savannah after cops had to break up a street fight between Edwards and another girl, Laquilla White. According to the police report, Edwards told officers that White had been logging threatning phone calls to her all day. Edwards said she went to the the woman’s home to confront her and that’s when the fight began. Both women were taken to the Chatham County Detention Center. No other details have surfaced, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say I’d bet this was a “you stole my man” argument.
How You Can Be On “Glee”
Taking a page from “American Idol,” “Glee’s” executive producers are holding a nationwide online casting search for talented performers to fill new roles that will be featured during the show’s second season. Beginning today, amateur and professional performers between the ages of 16 and 26 (darn, that means I’m out!) will have the opportunity to submit an audition video exclusively on MySpace.
“Glee” hopefuls will be able to upload their videos beginning today through April 26. Videos must feature an explanation about why the auditioner wants to be on “Glee,” as well as a demonstration of his/her stellar singing ability by performing one of 10 “Glee” songs featured on the show including “True Colors,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Lean on Me.” Performances must be either a cappella or with single instrument accompaniment via MySpace Karaoke or by uploading their own pre-recorded videos. Audition videos must be limited to five minutes in length – a one-minute introduction and a four-minute song – and are limited to one submission per person. “Castle” Back For Season Three
ABC announced today that it has picked up its Monday night series “Castle” for season three. The crime caper series about a mystery novel writer who helps the NYPD homicide division solve crimes stars Nathon Fillion and Stana Katic and has been averaging around 10 million viewers for its second season.
TV Land Awards Finds Host
Former “Home Improvement” star Tim Allen is set to the host the 8th Annual TV Land Awards. The show celebrates classic and contemporary luminaries of television, music and movies. Honorees previously announced include the cast of “Everybody Loves Raymond,” who will reunite for the first time since the death of Peter Boyle. This year’s Future Classic Award will be bestowed up FOX’s hit show “Glee.” The show will also feature a special tribute to the late Farrah Fawcett with her former “Charlie’s Angels” co-stars set to attend. The TV Land Awards will air April 25 at 9 PM ET/PT.
“The Walking Dead” Alive On TV
Fanboys everywhere are rejoicing today with news that AMC has given the greenlight to a series based on the comic book “The Walking Dead.” Six episodes have been ordered of the series that revolves around a group of surivivors of a zombie apocalypse. Jon Bernthal, most recently seen in HBO’s “The Pacific,” has been cast in the lead role of police officer Rick Grimes, who leads a group of human survivors dealing with a world overrun by zombies.
FOX’s Parent Trap
Celebrities have danced, skated, sang and even dropped weight for reality shows, but FOX has a new idea for celebrities – fake engagements. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network’s latest reality project is set to have single, everyday people bring home their star “fiances” to meet the parents. The longer they can pull off the ruse that they are going to marry a celebrity, the more cash they can win for their parents. The show is executive produced by the team behind “Joe Millionaire,” “Tempation Island” and “My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance,” so you know it’s at least going to be entertaining. The only question will be what type of celebrities will agree to the farce? It’s not like you are going to get George Clooney. So if you think of the type of celebrity that would be willing to do this show (the same ones who would do “Dancing with the Stars” or “Celebrity Apprentice”), those people marrying a regular person is not so far fetched… I’m just saying!
