Dolly Parton On Miley Cyrus: ‘I Admire Her’

Dolly Parton has been busy not only recording a new album, “Blue Smoke,” but also, defending longtime friend Miley Cyrus.

The queen of country sat down for an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle in Nashville on Tuesday, where Dolly opened up about her goddaughter Miley and the details behind Dolly’s own recent car accident.

“A lot of people know you’re her godmother.” Michelle said.

“Well I’m her fairy godmother. We’ve never had official stuff. She’s the cutest thing there ever was,” Dolly said of Miley.

Dolly went on to tell Michelle that Miley has brought her some additional attention.

“Everyone is all over me now like I’m supposed to answer for Miley. I admire her, I respect her, she’s smart, and she’s so talented. And Billy Ray and me will never say nothing bad about Miley ‘cause Miley obviously knew what she was doing,” Dolly said. “She knew she had to go to drastic measures to let people just leave her alone ‘cause nobody was going to let her grow up.”

Dolly said she is rooting for the young pop star.

“I’m hoping that she always makes the right moves,” Dolly told Michelle. “It’s her choice. We all have our own choices to make.”

“I’m not saying nothing bad about Miley,” she added.

Dolly also told Michelle that her recent car accident was made bigger on social media site Twitter than it was in real life.

“It was not bad at all. You know, the airbags didn’t inflate in the car and mine didn’t deflate in the car,” Dolly said with a laugh, showing off her trademark sense of humor about her chest. “And so I figured that’s a pretty good sign that it wasn’t too bad. So, we’re just a little sore form the seat belt, you know, just the jolt of that [left me] sore, but all in all we’re fine.”

Tune into Access Hollywood on Thursday, October 31 to see more of our interview with Dolly Parton.

Dolly kicks off her world tour on February 11, 2014 in Melbourne, Australia, before heading to Britain, later in the summer. “Blue Smoke” is due out in early 2014.
