They might play stuffy aristocrats on the small screen, but in real life the cast of “Downton Abbey” have a great sense of humor and good hearts!
Following the show’s recent Season 5 promo shot that accidentally included a plastic water bottle in the background (something not yet invented during the time period the show takes place), the cast poked fun at the incident.
“The cast of #Downton embraced ‘water bottle-gate’ today,” read the caption of a photo of 17 cast members, all drinking from water bottles —many with cheeky, guilty looks on their faces.

The Instagram shot, posted on the show’s official account, also directed followers to the WaterAid.org website.
“After seeing the reaction the picture caused earlier this week, the cast and crew came up with the idea of turning some of this attention towards an issue around water that really matters. They hope that by posing for this picture they will be able to raise awareness and amplify the work of international charity – WaterAid,” a statement on the site read.
The message also encouraged people to donate to the organization that helps to bring clean and safe drinking water to people throughout the world in need.
