‘Downton Abbey’ Star Headed To ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 2 As Ygritte

As Gwen, on PBS’ Emmy-award winning series “Downton Abbey,” Rose Leslie played a house maid with lofty ambitions, and she’ll be bringing a similar drive to “Game of Thrones” as Ygritte.

HBO confirmed to Access Hollywood the actress is set to play Ygritte, a wildling set to cross paths with Kit Harington’s Jon Snow.

SPOILER: Fans of the books know Jon will travel beyond the wall in Season 2, where he meets – and develops feelings for – the redheaded wildling.

Previously, when asked by Access Hollywood at Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego if his character would be getting a love interest in Season 2, Kit blushed.

“I think you might, is what I’ll say,” he told Access.

Kit is set to spend time in Iceland filming “GOT” Season 2, giving the Night’s Watch and those beyond-the-wall moments a cold flavor.

“It was cold last season, but this season we’re going to Iceland,” Kit told Access at the time. “It’s going to be freezing, so that’s going to be a bit of a task…it’s pretty grueling stuff for Jon Snow.”

“Game of Thrones” returns for Season 2 in 2012 on HBO.
