‘Eclipse’ Ladies Dish On Taylor Lautner’s Acrobatics & The Backstage Vampire/Werewolf Divide

The latest installment of “The Twilight Saga” – third film “Eclipse” – hits theaters on June 30, and according to the ladies of the cast, co-star Taylor Lautner brought the fun to the film set.

Nikki Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie Cullen, told Vanity Fair’s July 2010 issue that Taylor, who plays werewolf Jacob Black, was so full of energy, they had to steer clear in order to do their jobs.

“We can’t hang out with them,” Nikki said of Taylor and his infamous wolf pack co-stars who include Alex Meraz and Chaske Spencer. “We have 5,000 pounds of white makeup on and Taylor [Lautner] just wants to tackle you on the floor and throw you up in the air, and I’m like, ‘I can’t play football with you, Taylor — I can’t break a sweat. I can’t move, actually, ’cause my wig might come flying off.’”

Newcomer to the franchise, Julia Jones, the lone female member of the wolf pack, said her new on-screen posse are athletic off screen too.

“It’s so scary,” Julia told the mag. “The way he does handstands on top of the makeup chairs! I walk into this room, and there’s like three wolves upside down doing handstands on the armrests of these chairs. That’s the thing about the wolves!”

In fact, there was a divide in the type of activities the two camps – vampires and werewolves – engaged in during their down time according to Bryce Dallas Howard, who joins the franchise in “Eclipse” as Victoria, having replaced Rachelle Lefevre at the start of filming last year.

“I love the way the wolves are always doing physical contests and the vampires are being, like, edgy and writing music,” she laughed.

For the special article and pictorial in the mag, Dakota Fanning, who plays vampire Jane in the film was also interviewed. The mag reported she is glad to be a part of the film, even if she didn’t get to play the series heroine, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart’s character).

“The parts are very specific,” Dakota, now 16, told VF. “And by the first one… the main roles were already cast, and so it was great that I was able to be a little part of it.”
