Elijah Wood: Filming ‘The Hobbit’ ‘Will Be Wonderful’

Elijah Wood is looking forward traveling back to Middle Earth and strapping on his Hobbit feet!

Access Hollywood caught up with the actor on Wednesday night at “The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil” 5th Anniversary premiere in Las Vegas, where he gave us an update on the Peter Jackson-directed “Hobbit” prequels.

“I go down in October,” he told Access. “I know a little bit about what I’m doing. It’s a very small little piece. But more than anything, I’m excited to go back and visit with everybody. It’s like a 12-year reunion!”

The 30-year-old actor will reprise his role as Frodo Baggins.

“I’m really excited,” he continued. “It’s not often that you get an opportunity to revisit such a significant time in your life again. It will be wonderful.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the cast includes many of the original “Lord of the Rings” stars including Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey; Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum.

The first film, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” will be released on December 14, 2012, with the second film, “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” slated to hit theaters the following year on December 13, 2013.
