After performing a stunning contemporary routine with Sasha
Farber on Tuesday night’s “Dancing with the Stars,” pro Emma Slater
received a romantic surprise – a proposal from her beau.
Show host Tom Bergeron helped with the surprise, turning the
mic over to Sasha after telling him, “I always thought you had the
potential to actually host.”
“I’ve wanted to do this for such a long time. I love
you so, so much,” Sasha told Emma before getting down on one knee and
asking her to marry him.

Backstage, after the show, Emma couldn’t help but share her happiness.
“I’m over the moon,” she told Access Hollywood. “I can’t believe that this is the day that I got engaged. And we [are] fiancées. I’m still in shock. Honestly, I’m still in shock.”

Emma told Access Hollywood that she didn’t even see some of the fanfare onstage as Sasha proposed, she was so caught up in the beautiful moment.
“Apparently there was a big sign that said, ‘She said yes!’ and there were streamers, but I didn’t even know there were streamers,” she revealed. “Somebody had to go, ‘There were streamers.’ … All I was saw Sasha and I could barely even hear what he was saying, but I knew I was going to say yes.”
Sasha said his “hands were sweating, everything was sweating” as he geared up to pop the question on live television.
“I was dying ’cause I had the ring in my back pocket and having to do the dance before, I was just hoping everything would go smooth, she would say yes, the ring wouldn’t fall out. There were so many aspects that could possibly go wrong. I was just super, super nervous,” he told Access Hollywood.

Emma didn’t know the proposal was coming, but she had been noticing Sasha was looking at her a little differently of late.
“I’ve noticed you looking at me but getting lost,” she said, as she stood alongside her new fiancé.
“And I’ve been wondering why… but now I know and I’m really happy,” she added.
Although her family was 8-hours ahead in England, Emma still phoned home to share her happy news.
“I actually managed to slip out during the show and call my dad. … He knew,” she said. “Sasha had asked my dad’s permission yesterday and he was so over the moon. I’m really happy.”
