Estelle Finds Love With A Real ‘American Boy’ & A Grammy

Estelle just picked up a Grammy for Best Rap Sung Collaboration with Kanye West for their song “American Boy,” but it appears she’s picked up another thing as well – a man.

When asked backstage at the ceremony in Los Angeles if she’s found her “American Boy,” British singer Estelle let the news slip.

“I think I have,” she said. “I’m not telling you who he is.”

While her man remains a mystery, Estelle fleshed out how the hit song, “American Boy,” came together, which coincidentally happened almost two years ago to the date of her Grammy win.

“I was in the studio in Miami two years ago, Super Bowl weekend and there were lots of pretty American men in the studio,” Estelle explained. “I was sitting there like, ‘What can I write about on this beat. I love the beat.’ [My producer] was like, ‘What about American boys, they’re kind of lining up looking at you.’ So we did it .I didn’t think it was gonna make the album … I was like if this don’t come out, I’ll bootleg it in Ibiza and I’ll be out there performing it for two years… so it’s kind of shocked me.”

Estelle, dressed in a shimmering silver gown at the show, was ecstatic over her Grammy win, but she also shared her enthusiasm over Jennifer Hudson’s win for Best R&B Album.

“Other than myself, I was happy Jennifer Hudson won, you know, just because I mean the chick is brave,” Estelle said. “I think what’s happened to her recently, if that had happened to me, I would have just gone and hid for two years. And she came back out like, ‘Nope, this is what I’m here for.’… And he sang and killed it and won an award.”
