Eva Mendes: ‘I Want To Be Known For Things Other Than My Sexuality’

Eva Mendes may have served as the body for Calvin Klein underwear recently, but she doesn’t want to be known for just being sexy.

“I just want to be known for things other than my sexuality,” Eva told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson at “The Other Guys” junket over the weekend, a detective comedy in which she stars alongside Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, where she’s playing what Will’s character perceives as more of a homely gal than a bombshell.

The actress said she knows her figure is a selling point for some of the movies she’s been in, but noted she is more than just a beautiful body.

“I’m very comfortable with my sexuality and my femininity and I use it, whether it’s in a in a film opposite Denzel Washington in ‘Training Day’ or for a Calvin Klein campaign,” she said. “I’m very proud of those things. I’m very comfortable with myself and my sexuality, but it doesn’t define me. I also read books believe it or not.”

Eva said she is looking forward to tackling more roles that she can really sink her teeth into — and not always flaunt her figure — in the future.

“Anything with color and layers,” Eva told Shaun of her dream project. “I think women like Joan Crawford, back in the day and Bette Davis… I just saw ‘Anna Karenina’ again the other day and you know, those were women who had so much. They were like equal parts feminine and masculine and they were broads!”

“The Other Guys” opens August 6.
