“24” boss Howard Gordon says he’s hoping to finally film the TV show’s big screen leap next year.
Speaking to Access Hollywood at “An Evening with ‘Homeland,’” at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood on Wednesday night, Gordon said the film was delayed due to multiple issues.
“We were racing to get this thing done, and Kiefer was out promoting ‘Touch’ and we got a script that we finally all really liked and [we] we’re talking to directors and it was all coming together, but it was kind of a run-n-gun,” Gordon, executive producer of “24” and “Homeland,” told Access.
The producer said there wasn’t enough time to do the project right with “Touch” kicking off.
“With ‘Touch’ — I mean to just sort of jam it in, we all felt — at the last minute — it wasn’t the right, it just didn’t feel right to rush,” he added. “We all feel so, so, strong about this — about this project — that we wanted to do it right.”
When asked when they might be able to shoot the long-awaited project, Gordon said when his star has the time.
“I think we are very committed to keeping it alive and to doing it, hopefully next cycle, when Kiefer next gets a break,” Gordon said.
“So next year, then?” Access asked.
“Next year, yeah,” Gordon said, nodding.
“We’re going to try and hold you to that,” Access added.
“Hey, nobody wants it more than me – except maybe Kiefer,” he smiled.
