A Gary Coleman fan bailed the star out of jail after his arrest for a domestic violence charge, a producer of “Midgets vs. Mascots” — a new documentary featuring the actor, told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush in an interview for “The Billy Bush Show.”
And producer Joey Stewart – who made the bid to convince the star to allow nude footage of himself to appear in the film – added that the news came as a surprise.
“A fan actually beat us to the punch,” Stewart told Bush. “We made a deal with Gary, we decided to send an olive branch out, smooth things over. We didn’t want to get all legal about this thing. We made the deal, we sent him the money – but unfortunately a fan… got him out.”
But Stewart added that things have been smoothed over between Coleman and the film.
“He’s got the money… Long story short is, we’re all cool now, Gary’s happy, we’re happy. We expect no other issues to come about because of his p**** being in the film,” Stewart said.
And asked about how Coleman’s “situation” wound up on film, the producer said the star had nothing to be ashamed of.
“Women would love Gary,” Stewart said, adding that the star dropped his drawers to stop a fight during an improvised segment. “[There was] a pretty heated argument in [the showers], but Gary went in to try and break-up the fight – his robe opened up and was there for all to see.”
Coleman was arrested on Saturday in Utah on a warrant for failing to appear in court. His bail, paid by the fan, was set at $1,725.
