Farrah Fawcett Wins Battle With Cancer

LOS ANGELES (February 2, 2007) — Farrah Fawcett received the birthday present of a lifetime on Friday, with news she has won her battle against cancer and is now cancer-free.

Fawcett, who turned 60 Friday, announced that her latest results reveal no traces of the colorectal cancer that was discovered in late 2006.

“This is an extraordinarily happy day for me and my family. I have been on a journey for the past four months and during this time received a tremendously aggressive treatment which doctors initially warned me would be the most difficult fight of my life. I was told they needed me to ‘bite the bullet’ and that would require great courage and unfailing determination. In the face of excruciating pain and uncertainty, I never lost hope and it never occurred to me to stop fighting – not ever,” Farrah said in a statement released to Access Hollywood.

“This experience has also humbled me by giving me a true understanding of what millions of others face each day in their own fight against cancer. I hope that my news might offer some level of inspiration to others who unfortunately must continue to fight the disease. So to those who are still struggling toward their own victory, stay determined, “fight the fight” and I will keep you and your families in my thoughts and prayers. I am deeply grateful to my team of physicians, my loving and supportive family and devoted friends who have sustained me as I battled this terrible disease, strengthened by my faith in God and the encouragement of so many.”

In December 2006, Farrah’s good friend and executive producer of “Chasing Farrah” sat down with Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts for an update on Farrah’s condition.

“During treatment, how sick was Farrah?” Tony asked.

“She was nowhere near death’s door. You wouldn’t know she was sick unless you knew she was sick. You would think she was just fatigued or getting over the flu,” Craig explained.

Also helping her on her road to recovery was her longtime love Ryan O’Neal.

“Ryan has been a real hero. Nobody can maker her laugh like Ryan can and laughter is very important her doctors tell her,” Craig added. With news of Farrah’s victory in her battle against cancer, many of her friends are speaking out.

“I have never seen anyone go through so much with such dignity and determination. I am in awe of her strength and courage,” said “Charlie’s Angels” co-star Kate Jackson.“I don’t think she even realizes how brave and strong she’s been throughout this extremely debilitating, painful, and scary experience. Thank God it’s over and she’s got a clean bill of health. And, on top of it, she looks amazing. Now, maybe those stupid tabloids will shut up,” Alana Stewart added.
