Fergie: Josh ‘Was Excited’ Over ‘Nine’ Weight Gain

Though Fergie is battling accusations about her marriage to “Transformers” star Josh Duhamel this week, in an interview with the December issue of Cosmopolitan, the Black Eyed Peas singer couldn’t have sounded happier about her husband.

“When I came home from filming, he was excited,” she told the mag of the 17 pounds she gained to play the role of Saraghina in the much-anticipated film, “Nine.” “He enjoys having both: the extra meat to grab when it’s there and the tight stomach when that’s there. He always gives me compliments. He’s never been critical.”

Fergie added that her romance with the actor came as a surprise.

“At that stage of my life, I don’t think I would have thought that about anybody,” she said of meeting her future husband on the set of his show, “Las Vegas.” “I’d made my list of qualities that I wanted, and you can’t just find out if somebody has those in a week. You have to see somebody’s character. It was learning what he was made of that made me fall in love with him.”

Looking ahead, Fergie said she and Josh would consider children after she wrapped up her current tour with the Black Eyed Peas toward the end of 2010, but pregnancy wouldn’t interfere with her sex kitten image.

“You can be a mother and still be completely sexy,” she said, noting she didn’t know what the future held. “Right now, I don’t want anything clouding my focus. Right now, I’m living in the present.”

For now, that includes a summer spent at the top of the charts with the Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling,” songs that the complicated Fergie added a sexy punch to.

“You know, in Italy, Catholic boys are raised to believe that there are two types of women: the Madonna and the whore,” she said. “And me? I’m both.”
