Fifty Shades Of Grey Pushed To Valentine’s Day 2015

Valentine’s Day 2015 is bound to be a little painful – in a good way!

After announcing that the “Fifty Shades of Grey” production date would be pushed back a month after Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the project and Jamie Dornan stepped in, Universal has slated the film to open on February 13 2015.

According to Entertainment Weekly, this will allow prep time for the film’s new leading man.

“We see this movie as a global event,” Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley told EW. “The strength of this book is really worldwide, so we want to be able to take advantage of women who are invariably on vacation with their families during the month of August in Europe.”

According to the studio, the date change is not due to the film’s casting shakeup.

“Together with the international marketing and distribution team, we’ve been looking really closely at the August date and becoming more and more convinced that the right thing to do for the movie was to push it,” Langley said. “So even if Charlie had stayed, we still would have been making the date change.”
