Former ‘American Idol’ Kellie Pickler Elopes In New Year’s Day Wedding

As the wave of celebrity weddings continues, “American Idol” alum Kellie Pickler has joined the fray as Hollywood’s newest bride.

Kellie and boyfriend Kyle Jacobs eloped on New Year’s Day, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

A rep for the country star confirmed the news of the nuptials between the 24-year-old singer and her 37-year-old songwriter beau.

The two wed in an “intimate ceremony on a private island in the Caribbean,” a statement from Kelly’s rep said, noting that the newlyweds are “elated.”

Kellie and Kyle have been dating since 2008. Kyle proposed to the former “American Idol” Season 5 star on June 15, 2010 – a day that used to represent great sorrow for the singer, as it was the birthday of her late grandmother.

“It turned out to be the most amazing day of my life,” Kellie told People at the time of her proposal. “My whole world changed. We both feel like we got my grandmother’s blessing.

“I remember saying to Kyle, ‘Baby it’s like I’m dreaming – but if this isn’t real, I’m going to be very upset!’” she added.
