Former ‘Full House’ Star Candace Cameron Bure Reveals She Battled Bulimia

Candace Cameron Bure was a role model for young women across America when she starred as D.J. Tanner on “Full House,” but in a new book, she reveals for the first time that after the show ended, she struggled with bulimia.

“It’s a very dangerous cycle that can just start to consume your life and really take over,” Candace, now 34, told People of her bulimia revelation, which she shares in her new book, “Reshaping It All,” due out on Jan. 1.

After “Full House” ended in 1995, and as she worked to settle into her life in Canada with her husband, hockey player Valeri Bure, Candace faced struggles with binging and purging, according to People.

However, Candace told the mag that she overcame her battle by working on her feelings.

“It wasn’t about me trying to lose weight,” the actress, a star of ABC Family’s “Make It Or Break It,” said. “It was all about emotions.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Candance maintains her shape these days through eating well and physical activity that often doubles as family time with husband and the couple’s three children – Natasha, Lev and Maksim.

“[Valeri] pretty much trains us in the summertime, which is awesome,” she told Access of workouts, which include activities like 30-minute beach runs. “I’m in good shape for me, but it’s not that much better shape than the kids are in… So we pretty much do the same workout.”

Candace added that she feels like she’s in the best shape of her life.

“I really do feel like I’m in better shape and look better now — even after having three kids — than I did before,” Candace previously told Access.
