Former ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Choreographer Arrested & Charged With Sexual Assault

Former “So You Think You Can Dance” choreographer Alex Da Silva was arrested on Tuesday on a felony warrant charging him with sexually assaulting four female victims, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

According to a statement from the District Attorney’s Office, the 41-year-old dance instructor, who is known for his salsa moves, was arrested at his North Hollywood home Tuesday morning by LAPD officers.

Da Silva is charged with eight felony counts, including four counts of forcible rape, two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object.

According to Deputy District Attorney Rosa Alarcon, the alleged four victims range in ages from 20 to 26 years old and were dancers who met Da Silva through the classes he taught. The alleged assaults took place between August 2002 and March 2009.

Da Silva is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday. According to the DA he could face life in prison if convicted.

He is currently being held on a $6.2 million bail.

When contacted by Access, FOX had no comment. Da Silva was not part of “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 5.
