Former True Blood Actor Grant Bowler Cast As Richard Burton In Liz & Dick

Grant Bowler, a former member of “True Blood’s” Season 3 wolf pack, has been cast as Richard Burton, opposite Lindsay Lohan’s Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime TV movie, “Liz & Dick.”

Lifetime confirmed the news to Access Hollywood on Thursday.

Grant, from New Zealand, played Cooter in “True Blood,” a werewolf, who didn’t make it out of the season alive.

He also played Connor Owens, Vanessa Williams’ one time love interest in ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” and most recently, he appeared on the now-canceled ABC Sunday night drama, “GCB.”

The 43-year-old actor is 18 years older than Lindsay, who is 25. Richard and Elizabeth were separated by just seven years.

Larry A. Thompson, who is an executive producer on the project, told Deadline, which first reported the news that they auditioned “many actors on just about any continent” for the role.

“Grant will add gravitas to our couple and bring to life one of the greatest actors who has ever lived,” the producer added. “Burton was a Welsh poet, a rascal, and a man’s man, who swept Elizabeth Taylor off her feet and flew her so close to the sun that they both exploded into stardust that still lights up Hollywood.”
