Fran Drescher Launches Cancer Schmancer Movement

NEW YORK (April 19, 2007) — Actress Fran Drescher is taking her fight against cancer to the public.

Next month, the former star of CBS? sitcom ?The Nanny,? launches her Cancer Schmancer Movement, named after Drescher?s book of the same name. A non-profit organization, Cancer Schmancer Movement is aimed at diagnosing all women?s cancers in Stage 1.

?Detection equals survival,? Drescher said in a statement. ?Through education, legislation and social reform, we will not stop until the very landscape of America?s womens healthcare consciousness has been replanted.?

Drescher herself is a uterine cancer survivor who was famously misdiagnosed and treated for an unrelated condition.

More information on Drescher?s organization can be found at www.cancerschmancer.org.
