What do three consecutive Emmys get you these days? Apparently, a hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live.”
Fresh off his third straight Emmy win for Best Actor in a Drama Series, “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston says he will host the October 2 episode of “SNL,” the actor revealed during an interview with ESPN Radio’s “Mason & Ireland” show on Wednesday evening.
“I’ve got some great news that just came out today — breaking today on your show,” he said during his interview. “I’ve been asked to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ next month. I am so thrilled and excited and a little scared. It’s going to be fun.”
It would be his first appearance on the show.
“It’s huge, huge, huge!” Cranston continued. “It’s a direct result and the lovely byproduct of being nominated… I think in a recent past life I must’ve been greatly mistreated because I don’t know why I’ve been so fortunate in this one.”
When contacted by Access Hollywood, a spokesperson for “SNL” would not comment on the news.
Cranston – who previously starred as the bumbling dad in FOX’s “Malcolm In The Middle” — isn’t the only recent Emmy winner headed to the “SNL” stage this season.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, “Glee” star Jane Lynch – who took home the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy – has been confirmed to host the show on October 9.
The new season of “Saturday Night Live” debuts September 25. No host (or, for that matter, rumors of a host) has yet been mentioned for the season premiere.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, three new cast members are set to join the show for its 36th season. In addition, long time cast member Will Forte has announced that he’s leaving the cast.
