Gabourey Sidibe stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday, where — on the heels of NBA player Jason Collins’ coming out announcement (the athlete was previously in an 8-year relationship with former fiancee Carolyn Moos) – she revealed she too has dated a gay man.
In fact, the hilarious actress, who stars in Showtime’s “The Big C: Hereafter,” says she doesn’t think it’s uncommon to unwittingly date a gay guy.
“Who hasn’t dated a gay dude?!?” the former “Precious” star told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover with a laugh, before recounting her own experience. “He didn’t tell me [he was gay], I just sort of figured it out… [we dated] sort of recently.”
Gabby said she knew something was up when he showed an affinity for her footwear.
“There were weird things he would say,” she said, when asked how she figured it out. “He also tried on my heels once – that’s a pretty big indication!”
The actress – who was recently cast in Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story: Coven” — is turning 30 in five days, but said her only birthday party will be one given by the crew on a production she’s currently working on.
“I never throw myself parties,” she said. “I get too nervous about it – like, I plan it and then I get too nervous about and I go, ‘No, I don’t deserve it!’ and I stop, like a weirdo.”
She will, however, be embarking on an international adventure in celebration of hitting the big 3 – 0.
“I am gonna take like, a big, grownup trip to Milan… I’m gonna go to Madrid too,” she said.
