‘Game Of Thrones’: Conleth Hill Doesn’t Get Recognized

Conleth Hill has been a member of the “Game of Thrones” cast since the first season, but the actor admitted he can still go out in public without being recognized for his work as Lord Varys.

“No, I think most people tonight thought I was a wine waiter… or security,” Conleth said when Access Hollywood asked him at the show’s NYC premiere late last month if fans approach him. “So, I’ve still got my anonymity.”

That anonymity comes courtesy of a full head of hair, which Conleth shaves off to play the political power player at King’s Landing – eunuch Lord Varys.

“Suits” fan saw Conleth with a slim crop when he joined the USA series in the first half of Season 2. And, it was on that set that Conleth said he got a text message from a celebrity “GoT” fan – “Matrix” alum Laurence Fishburne.

“Gina Torres, who I was in ‘Suits’ with, the first day I arrived, she showed me a text from him, which said, ‘Welcome, Lord Varys, and your little birds,’ or something like that,” Conleth recounted (Laurence and Gina are married). “He pushed Gina into watching it as well.”

Conleth was tight-lipped when asked about what’s next for Varys in Season 4, but he did say his character is a little sad that Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) isn’t in King’s Landing.

“I think he misses Littlefinger. He misses sparring with Littlefinger, but as to what he gets up to, you know I can’t tell you,” he said.

“Game of Thrones” Season 4 premieres April 6 at 9 PM ET/PT on HBO.
