‘Game Of Thrones’: HBO Bosses Not Worried About No New Book Yet From George R.R. Martin

HBO bosses said they have no concerns over their drama “Game of Thrones,” despite author George R.R. Martin not yet having completed the sixth book in his “A Song of Fire and Ice” series.

“George is an integral part of the creative team on this, so at least with respect to next season, every step, every move is being choreographed very closely with him,” President of HBO Programming, Michael Lombardo, said, when AccessHollywood.com asked about it during the Television Critics Association Summer Tour on Thursday in Beverly Hills.

“And I think… certainly after next year, you know, we will have to figure it out with George if his book’s not finished at [that] point, but we’re in conversations with him. We’re not concerned about it,” Lombardo added.

Richard Plepler, Chairman and CEO of HBO, noted that the show’s executive producers – David Benioff and Dan Weiss — are in close enough contact with GRRM that they don’t have to worry.

“In equal importance, David and Dan are in constant communication and conversation with him so they’re working as they always have very closely to model the future so, no, we’re not losing any sleep over that,” Plepler added.

Later in the panel, the pair were also asked about rumors that “Thrones” would go for several more seasons, but end with a movie. But once again, the network bosses shot that idea down saying there are no conversations going on about movies.
