Another slew of new characters made their debut in “Game of Thrones” on Sunday, including the long-awaited appearance of Catelyn Stark’s Tully family members.
For those trying to stay one step ahead of the “Game” (who haven’t read the books), AccessHollywood.com continues our weekly guide to who was new this week, and which characters returned from seasons gone by in Season 3, Episode 303 — “Walk of Punishment.”

Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies)
How He Was Introduced: in a recent interview that Edmure is, “as comic as ‘Game of Thrones’ gets,” and his point was proved when the character, Catelyn Stark’s younger brother, sunk flaming arrow after flaming arrow into the river (missing his late father, Lord Hoster Tully’s floating funeral pyre), in front of the Tully family. He was then shoved aside by his uncle, Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully, who hit the target in one shot. Later, Edmure squared off with his nephew, King Robb Stark as he tried to justify disobeying Robb’s orders by engaging in a battle against the Lannisters.
Characters He’s Tied To: His sister – Catelyn Stark, his nephew – King Robb Stark, his uncle Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully.
Where You’ve Seen Tobias Before: Tobias was actually on Saturday’s episode of BBC America’s “Doctor Who,” alongside fellow “GOT” star Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth). Here’s a clip of the two of them on a sinking Russian nuclear submarine with the Doctor and Clara. Most HBO fans will remember Tobias playing a young Marcus Brutus on “Rome,” with Ciaran Hinds (who plays Mance Rayder) as Julius Caesar. In 2011, Tobias played a young Ian Fleming (the man who created James Bond) in the miniseries “Any Human Heart.” And, he was also in a Bond film – 2006’s “Casino Royale” – as M’s assistant – Villiers.

Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully (Clive Russell)
How He Was Introduced: He was first spotted pushing his late brother, Lord Hoster Tully’s funeral pyre into the river outside the Tully’s castle, Riverrun. He then shoved his nephew, Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies), aside after he missed lighting the floating funeral pyre up. Brynden hit the floating casket in his first shot. Later, he sniped at Edmure for failing to address Robb by his proper title – King – and stood around and watched Robb tear into him. He also had a chat with his beloved niece, Catelyn, about what she thinks are her late children Bran and Rickon (of course, they are actually still alive).
Characters He’s Tied To: His nephew — Edmure Tully, his niece — Catelyn Stark, and Robb Stark.
Where You’ve Seen Clive Before: Most recently he appeared in BBC America’s “Ripper Street,” playing Chief Inspector Fred Abberline, alongside Jerome Flynn (Bronn in “GOT”) and Matthew Macfayden. He also played Captain Tanner in the 2009 Robert Downey Jr. film, “Sherlock Holmes,” reprising the role in 2011’s, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”

Locke (Noah Taylor)
How He Was Introduced: Locke was briefly introduced during the very last scene in Episode 302, leading the party that captured Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth. He was seen again – and fleshed out as a thoroughly rotten man – in this episode, leading the Kingslayer and Brienne (who were tied up atop a horse), through the forest. Later, he stopped his men from forcefully taking Brienne’s honor because Jaime told him she was worth more in sapphires if she was returned to her father, “unbesmirched.” He also left audiences shocked by slicing off the Kingslayer’s hand in the episode’s final scene.
Characters He’s Tied To: Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth, who are his prisoners. He also has a connection to The Bolton family, as in Episode 302, Jaime recognized the sigil on his flag as the flayed man of House Bolton, one of the more disgusting sigil’s in the “GOT” universe. The other Bolton family member that is already identified (book readers may have recognized another, recently) in the show is Roose Bolton. Roose has been seen as Robb Stark’s right hand man in battle.

Where You’ve Seen Noah Before: Playing Mr. Bucket, the father of Charlie Bucket, in the Johnny Depp-fronted film, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” He also played Dick Roswell, manager to Stillwater, the fictional band in 2000’s “Almost Famous.” In 2001’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” and the follow-up, “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life,” he starred as Bryce, the assistant to Angelina Jolie’s Lara. Most recently Noah appeared in the History channel miniseries “Hatfields & McCoys”

Gilly (Hannah Murray)
How She Was Introduced: The redheaded Gilly made her first appearance at the start of last season, pregnant and making a friend of Samwell Tarly. She asked him for help because — if she gave birth to a boy, her father/husband Craster would get rid of it. The two parted ways after he gave Gilly his mother’s sewing thimble in a touching scene. This time around, she made her first Season 3 reappearance, giving birth – as Sam watched – to a baby boy.

Characters She’s Tied To: Her father/husband Craster, Samwell Tarly, her newborn son.
Where You’ve Seen Hannah Before: Hannah played Cassie Ainsworth in the UK’s “Skins” in 2008, alongside fellow “GOT-er” Joe Dempsie.
