George Clooney ‘Very Sorry To Hear’ Of Brad & Angelina Divorce News

George Clooney was one of the many celebrities taken aback
by Tuesday’s news that Angelina had filed for divorce from Brad Pitt.

The friend of the couple found out when CNN asked
him for his reaction while he was at the United Nations for an event on the
refugee crisis.

“I didn’t know that,” Clooney told CNN’s Richard Roth when asked for his thoughts on the split news.

“I feel
very sorry then,” Clooney added. “That’s a sad story and unfortunate
for a family. It’s an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to
hear that.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Jolie filed for divorce on Monday,
citing irreconcilable differences. She has asked for primary custody of the
couple’s six children.

On Tuesday, Pitt released a
statement about the split.

“I am very saddened by this,
but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” Pitt said in a
statement to People.
“I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this
challenging time.”

Jolie’s manager, Geyer Kosinski,
addressed the split in a statement to E! News.

“Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest to
protect her children,” Kosinski told the outlet. “She
appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
