Glam Slam: Bag Week — Makeup Bag Musts!

This week Glam Slam is all about the baggage in your life… but the good kind, the stuff you want, the stuff you need, the stuff you can’t leave home without! For today’s Makeup Monday edition, naturally we start with makeup bag musts.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Robin Black (she’s worked with Jessica Alba and Kristen Bell) of Face at Warren Tricomi Salon in Los Angeles shares her Makeup Bag Essentials.

BASE: Paul & Joe Protective Fluid Foundation
This sheer formula is super moisturizing and evens out the skin tone, leaving a smooth finish. I first used it on LeeLee Sobieski for a photo shoot and we were both impressed with how naturally flawless her skin looked! You only need a nickel-sized amount to cover the whole face. Apply a thin coat, blend and then dab in an extra layer in any place you feel blotchy.

CONCEALER: Make Up For Ever’s Camouflage Cream Palette
This palette is the perfect way to transition from your Summer tan to Fall skin! Everyone (even actresses and models!) has a variety of shades on their face but with the five colors in this palette, you can be assured a perfect match. Try mixing the peach or red tones to brighten under eye circles.

CONTOUR: NARS Multiple in Malaysia
Summer is fading but I keep Isabel Lucas’ complexion warm and glowing by using NARS Multiple stick in Malaysia as a contour. Just swipe a bit under your cheekbones, on the temples of your forehead, the sides of your nose and a touch on the chin for a hint of “beach skin”.

EYES: MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
Here is a trick I’ve used several times on the super chic Chloë Sevigny; create simple drama by applying a very thin line of the Fluidline right along the base of your upper lashes. Use a pointed liner brush, it’s easier than you think and MAC make’s a great one. Add a few coats of mascara for a polished and sexy look!

MASCARA: Paul & Joe Mascara Duo N
This great double-ended tube features two different brushes and formulas that allow you to create a thick fringe or a natural look depending on your mood. The comb brush is great for fine lashes or for separating multiple coats.

LIPSTICK: Lancôme’s L’Absolu Rouge, Chanel’s Rouge Hydrabase Fantastic Plum
This Fall is the season for dramatic lips! My favorites are Lancôme’s L’Absolu Rouge (a brilliant satin red) and Chanel’s Fantastic Plum (a sheer plum). I love the plum shade for women with deeper skin tones. I recently used Chanel’s Fantastic Plum on Keri Hilson for an Allure photo shoot and it looked… well… Fantastic!

LIP MOISTURIZER: Yu-Be
This unassuming Japanese brand looks and smells a bit on the medical side, however I swear by it for severely chapped lips! It has an almost matte finish making it the perfect base for lipstick or liner.

SKIN RESCUE: 24K Cocoa Gold Vitamin Mask by LaROCCA
Insiders know that this rich, environmentally friendly formula is the ideal last minute fix for dull skin. Massage a thin layer over the entire face (avoiding the sensitive eye area), let it dry and then gently rinse for brighter, firmer skin! This is a great way to perk up your complexion before a big evening out or for the red carpet!

MAKEUP REMOVER: Comodynes Makeup Remover with Oats for sensitive skin
I use these wipes every day on photo shoots, runway shows, red carpet events, music videos, etc. They are very gentle and do a great job removing makeup or prepping the skin. The best part… you can buy them at Trader Joes!

FINAL TOUCH: Laura Mercier Secret Finish
This is the secret savior of makeup artists everywhere! This clear fluid gives skin the perfect dewy texture and can be applied over makeup. Once I’ve completed a red carpet look, I pat a small amount of the Secret Finish onto the cheekbones and brow bones to add a natural looking glow.
