Glam Slam: Black Friday Survival Guide

Happy Black Friday! It’s the same every year… loads of sales, crowded stores, impossible parking. In other words, utter madness. To keep the stress of the day to a minimum, here is my time-tested shopping survival guide.

HAVE A PLAN
Before you step a foot outside of your door, make sure to map out which stores you want to hit and why.

MAKE A LIST
Who are you shopping for? Write it all down. I make a document on my blackberry, which I constantly update and since I always have my blackberry with me, I never leave the list at home.

MAKE A BUDGET
Don’t get swept up in all the hoopla and end up buying things you don’t need because “it’s a good deal.” Write everything down and stick with it.

GET A BABYSITTER
It’s hard enough to navigate holiday sales by yourself, much less dragging kids with you. A babysitter is a worthwhile investment that will save you time.

BE PREPARED
Bring bottled water, granola bars or other snacks so you can fuel up on the go to save time and avoid mall food courts.

BE COMFORTABLE
Wear comfy flat shoes that you’ve already “broken in” so you don’t get blisters. As for those fierce high heels, they may look stylish, but don’t even think about it.

AVOID THE CROWDS
Really hate hitting the mall? Do all your shopping online.

TAKE A MOMENT
Some people actually enjoy shopping for family and friends and it’s nice to pause and take a deep breath to remember what the season is all about- celebrating loved ones.

Happy Shopping!
