Glam Slam: Golden Globes Style

It was the best of both worlds for me at the Golden Globes. I had a bird’s eye view to the red carpet as all the stars walked by and I also got a front row seat to all the fashions when the stars came up on our platform.

THE HITS
The crowd went most crazy for Brad and Angie when they arrived – no surprise there! Wow – do they make one stunning couple or what? They walked down the red carpet by us and we yelled their name and they looked directly at us and waved. I guess I am pretty jaded when it comes to seeing stars, but we were like little kids or excited fans going crazy! Loved the color of Angie’s embellished dress- emerald green, which she paired with matching satin Ferragamo pumps and clutch. She really favors black and neutrals and I loved that she changed things up with a bright color. Catherine Zeta-Jones also looked gorgeous in green in her Monique Lhuillier, as did “Black Swan” star Mila Kunis in her draped Vera Wang. Olivia Wilde was a knockout in a chocolate brown, embellished Marchesa ball gown.

BOLD AND BRIGHT
Color was one of the big trends of the carpet. Kyra Sedgwick went with mustard yellow, Emma Stone with salmon Calvin Klein and Claire Danes did a hot pink custom Calvin Klein halter gown. Lea Michele also went with pink wearing a dramatic Oscar de la Renta, which she paired with spiky Christian Louboutin heels.

“I’ve never done pink before and I feel really like today is a celebration, all these awards shows, they are a total celebration,” Lea told us. “So it is a full on party dress.”

Sofia Vergara looked sexy in red Vera Wang, which showed off her cleavage and January Jones also went with red turning heads in her skin-baring cut out Versace.

PALE
Loved “Glee” star Dianna Agron in a blush J. Mendel gown – she looked absolutely beautiful and she joked when she went down the stairs of our platform that it was much easier going down than going up. (Which was true for most of the stars who were in high, high heels.) Sandra Bullock (sporting straight, heavy bangs) in Jenny Packham and Scarlett Johansson did the delicate pale thing. Nicole Kidman wore a cream one-shouldered sequined Prada gown and “True Grit” breakout Hailee Steinfeld wore a unique ivory Prabal Gurung dress.

“This was actually the last one I tried on, which is kind of hard because at the end of the day, the last dress you know you haven’t found it yet, so I’m so happy I tried it on. I love it,” Hailee told us.

Jennifer Lopez rocked a Zuhair Murad white chiffon gown with a crystal tulle caplet from the Spring Summer 2011 collection. Pregnant Natalie Portman went with a loose pale pink gown by Viktor and Rolf that looked very comfortable, which was her goal.

CLASSIC BLACK
Eva Longoria looked smokin’ hot in Zac Posen. Tony who? Halle Berry also wowed in black wearing a simple Nina Ricci. Christina Aguilera wore black lace Zuhair Murad and Jane Lynch looked elegant as always in black Ali Rahimi.

THE MISSES
Helena Bonham Carter rarely if ever makes a best dressed list and her Golden Globes outfit will not change that. Her Vivienne Westwood concoction defies explanation and I’m still scratching my head over why she wore one red shoe and one green one. Suffice it to say that it’s signature Helena, so good for her! for sticking to her unique personal style. Tilda Swinton also spends a lot of time on worst dressed lists and her long satin ensemble will probably land her on a few more. I also was not a fan of Leighton Meester’s dress which looked like it was either straight off the prairie or out of the ‘70s. I love Julianne Hough, but her Marchesa with its jeweled neckline overpowered her. It wasn’t a fashion disaster, but I would have liked to see her in something more simple. For the most part though, the stars looked beautiful and did not disappoint.
