Glam Slam: Hot Hair Color Trends

Thinking about changing up your hair color? Hair featured on the runways of the Spring Fashion shows is having a big impact on color trends, according to Clairol Color Director Marie Robinson, who’s worked with Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Rachel McAdams.

“There are two trends happening in hair that will dictate hair color for Spring 2012,” Marie says. “Because hair style will have a modern resemblance to the 1940s and early 1970s cinema, hair color will have soft all over glow with natural reflection instead of the ombre trend we’ve been seeing.”

Marie says it’s possible to achieve these hair trends at home, but it’s important to stay within two to three shades of your current color for best results. “If you’re contemplating a more drastic change (i.e. blonde to black), I recommend you visit a salon,” she says.

IF YOU’RE A BRUNETTE:
Brunettes will have very natural dimension of sunny golds or beige hues for light browns, and darker buttery gold and maple hues for medium browns.
AS SEEN ON: Jennifer Garner and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
GET THE LOOK: Both of these celebrities have a light brown base with subtle tones. To achieve this look, try Clairol Perfect 10 6G- this subtle warm tone adds gloss that will suit most complexions.

Dark violet and amber browns go well with long, soft almost one length hair. Hair will look dark and glossy, great contrast with summer whites and pastel colors. More an all over color with more natural looking dimension.
AS SEEN ON: Salma Hayek and Anne Hathaway
GET THE LOOK: Anyone can try a rich dark brown such as Clairol Perfect 10 Dark Brown.

IF YOU’RE A BLONDE:
Blondes look golden and with apricot tones.
AS SEEN ON: Brigitte Bardot in ‘Viva Maria!” and Catherine Deneuve in 1975’s “Hustle.” Amanda Seyfried always has gorgeous hair color.
GET THE LOOK: Perfect 10 Golden Neutral Blonde, or for a deeper buttery effect try Beeline Honey.

Sandy beige blondes with creamy highlights are also influencing hair colors.
AS SEEN ON: Sienna Miller
GET THE LOOK: Use Perfect 10 in 9A, this color brightens dull, dark blonde hair that lacks sunshine.

IF YOU’RE A RED HEAD:
Reds will have a little mahogany or copper rose feel. It’s a nice transition from the orange reds we’ve been seeing as these reds look softer as skin becomes more glowy with the sun.
AS SEEN ON: Emma Stone
GET THE LOOK: This hair color is achievable with Clairol Perfect 10 6R lightest Auburn. Julianne Moore went a little more mahogany and it looks beautiful, you can achieve this look with 4R in Perfect 10 for a luxurious dark auburn.
