Jennifer Aniston hit the carpet last night for the Hollywood premiere of her new film ‘The Switch,’ (which is getting some good reviews, BTW). She rocked a Lanvin two-toned strapless mini… blush colored on top with black skirt, which showed off her tan, toned legs. She paired the simple dress with a black croco Ferragamo clutch, nude heels and understated Fred Leighton jewels.
It’s classic Jennifer, all clean, sleek lines, which has become her style signature. Very minimalist… you won’t find her wearing crazy ruffles, fringe, adornment or embellishment. She wears a lot of black, mixed in with neutrals like nude, white and gray. Jennifer knows what she likes and sticks with it… always.
Which is good… and bad. Good because she rarely, if ever, makes a fashion faux pas. Bad because she rarely, if ever, makes a fashion faux pas! And by that, I mean that when she constantly sticks to the same tried and true fashion formula, she will look good, sure, but it doesn’t give her the room to take a lot of chances.
And that was the debate in our office this morning. We were discussing her outfit and my co-worker Selin thought it was just OK, a bit on the blah side.
“She’s so safe all the time, I want her to take a risk,” Selin said. “Add some vibrant colors!”
Not a bad idea. Bright colors would really pop against Jen’s gorgeous blonde hair and glowing tanned skin. A nice way for Jennifer to switch up her style a bit. Sorry for the pun!
My co-worker Anthony liked her ensemble, but admitted that it’s, “predictable and very typical of her.”
And I guess that’s the point I’m trying to make. I’m not suggesting that Jen has to go all Lady Gaga on us with some over-the top crazy outfits; that’s not her at all. But mixing things up… even a little, would be a nice change and I, for one, would love to see her step out of her style comfort zone.
