Kim Kardashian just announced her engagement to boyfriend Kris Humphries yesterday via People Magazine. Talk about going big!
That’s not the only way the couple went big! Her engagement ring is MASSIVE! The emerald cut center stone is 16.5 carat flanked by two 2-carat trapezoid stones for a total of more than 20 carats!
“Khloe and I went ice skating on it earlier!” Kourtney Kardashian joked with us.
Kris Humphries did good… real good. He designed the ring with Kim’s long-time friend, jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, whose celeb clients include Beyonce, Oprah, Heidi Klum and Jennifer Lopez. Beyonce’s Lorraine engagement ring is an 18-carat D flawless diamond set in platinum worth a whopping $5 million!
Kim’s ring, which was made in New York City, is valued at $2 million!
“The diamond is rare,” Lorraine tells us, “it’s very hard to find a 16.5 stone in this tough diamond market right now.”
Lorraine told us that Kris wanted something classy and elegant and knew that it had to be big because Kim always wanted that since she was a little girl. He picked the emerald shape because he felt it was classy and elegant like Kim.
Lorraine worked with Kris on the ring for a while and she knew approximately when he was going to pop the question.
Lorraine told us she has since spoken to Kim who says that she loved the ring. Who wouldn’t?!
