Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Beauty Blunders

Add “Mad Men’s” Jon Hamm to the list of stars including Nicole Kidman and Ashley Judd who have hit the red carpet only to become the victim of a major makeup mishap.

Bless their little hearts! We’ve all been there… although without the unforgiving bright lights and lots of camera crews, fortunately.

Just recently at an event, a friend of mine told me my lipstick was awful and I needed to change it STAT! The thing is, I wasn’t offended at all. I KNEW it was not a good color on me, but I was trying to use it all up because it was expensive and I didn’t want to waste it!

I’m guilty of so many beauty blunders, I could write a month’s worth of Glam Slams about them. I just don’t have good makeup or hair skills…kind of ironic since I write about beauty and fashion on a daily basis.

Here are a couple of my biggest issues:

Eye makeup. I. Am. Not. Good. At. It. It’s as simple as that. A cat-eye? In my dreams. Using various shades to make eyes look bigger, etc. Not a chance.

Eyeliner that won’t stay put. I line my eyes and before I even leave the house, it’s all smudged.

Sparse Eyebrows. When I try to “fill them in”, they’re so light and thin just looks like little lines, no matter how much blending I try.

Foundation. It’s so hard to know the correct shade and to make sure it all blends in!

Lipstick and lip gloss that bleed all over the place. Yeah, yeah, I know, I’m supposed to line my lips to keep everything in place, but when I try that I look like Courtney Love at a Hole concert circa 1994. It’s all over my face!

I guess we can all find comfort in the fact though that everyone is guilty of a beauty blunder at some point….even celebs who have expensive glam squads at their disposal!
