Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Festive Faces!

Heading out to a holiday party? Sparkle this season with tips from Mathew Nigara, N.Y.C. New York Color makeup artist, who has worked with Jessica Simpson, Stacy London and Marisa Tomei.

FAIR SKIN LIKE KATE WINSLET AND ANNE HATHAWAY
Try a deep crimson stained lip with a nude liquid eyeliner, dramatic lashes and a flushed cheek.

HOW TO:
To create luminescent skin, mix 2/3 moisturizer and 1/3 foundation (Try: N.Y.C New York Color Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup) into the palm of your hand. Massage the mixture into skin in small circular motions.

Start with your eyes. Using a lash curler, curl lashes counting to 10 then release.

Apply an eyeshadow primer. Start at the inner corner of your eye and work your way across the brow bone, lightly cover eyelid with N.Y.C New York Color Sparkle Eye Dust in Champagne.

Next, apply N.Y.C New York Color Sparkle Eye Dust in Smokey Topaz to the crease of the eye with a blender brush to create depth.

Apply eyeliner like N.Y.C New York Color Liquid Eyeliner. Start at the inner corner of the eye and gradually work your way outward, getting a bit thicker as you move. Stop at the end of the eye; reposition the brush and feather out the final wing tip.

For a flushed cheek, use N.Y.C. New York Color Cheek Glow Single Pan Blush in Riverside Rose. Apply color to the apple of the cheeks and blend outward leaving the color deposited on the center of the cheek.

Then with N.Y.C. New York Color Sun 2 Sun Bronzing Powder, contour the under ridge of the cheekbone to create a finished sculpted look.

For the perfect crimson lip – exfoliate, moisturize and blot before applying the color. Stain the lip with your ring finger until the desired depth is reached but be sure to concentrate the most color in the center of the lip then blot and repeat as desired. (Try using: N.Y.C. New York Color Liquid Lip Shine in Cherrywood)

To complete the look, apply two coats of N.Y.C. New York Color Curling Mascara to your natural lashes. Then, cut false lashes into 3 pieces and apply starting 3/4 of the way in from the inner eye. Working your way out to the outer lash be sure to angle the last piece upward toward the temple creating a natural cat eye effect.

OLIVE SKIN LIKE JENNIFER LOPEZ OR EVA MENDES
Try pastel shimmering colors popped with lush lashes and icy toned lips.

HOW TO:
Begin by applying a highlighter to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, brow bone and in the center above your top lip.

Using the N.Y.C. New York Color Metro Quartet Eyeshadow, use the eye primer and then liberally apply a white, light blue, or mint green eyeliner to the lid.

Next, apply the N.Y.C New York Color Sparkle Eye Dust in Baby Blue or Karat Rose in a patting motion on top of the pencil, focusing the color onto the lid and gently blending a bit above the crease.

Using a lash curler, curl lashes counting to 10 then release. Apply two to three coats of N.Y.C. New York Color Maximum Boost Volumizing Mascara to your natural lashes, being sure to separate the lashes in between each coat.

Apply false eyelashes to complete the lush lashes look.

With a big powder brush, apply N.Y.C. New York Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder mixed with a bronzer directly onto the cheekbone but avoiding the apple. Move the brush upward to the hairline avoiding heavy application of color.

To create icy toned lips, apply a concealer on top of the lip to even out your natural color. Apply a soft pink lipstick like N.Y.C. New York Color Ultra Moist LipWear in Chiffon on top of the concealer and then finish with a pink, beige or gold gloss for a popping effect.

DARK SKIN LIKE BEYONCE AND KERRY WASHINGTON
Try a burgundy smokey eye with iridescent pink highlights, a matching cheek and deep berry lip.

HOW TO:
Moisturize the skin heavily and apply a gold highlight to the center of the face. Then, apply N.Y.C. New York Color Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup in Natural Tan in small circular motions to give the skin a glowing look.

Apply an iridescent pink eyeshadow like N.Y.C. New York Color Wheel Mosaic Eye Powder in Pink Cadillac to the center and inner corner of the eye to illuminate. Next, carefully apply a burgundy shade to the outer corners of the eyes.

Using a flat brush, dampen the same burgundy shadow and apply it as eyeliner underneath eye as well as on top. After it dries place the same color with a dome shaped brush and blend out the color so there are no harsh lines.

Using a lash curler, curl lashes counting to 10 then release. Apply two coats of N.Y.C. New York Color Lengthening Mascara to your natural lashes.

Apply N.Y.C. New York Color Cheek Glow Single Pan Blush in Outside Cafe high up on the cheekbone to create added emphasis and a frame for the eye.

Using N.Y.C. New York Color Classic Lipliner Pencil in Nutmeg, apply to the outer corners of the lip for shading and depth.

Apply a bordeaux lipstick like N.Y.C. New York Color Ultra Last LipWear in Plum Rum on lips and then finish with a gloss like N.Y.C. New York Color Lippin’ Large Lip Plumper in Very Clear for a high shine effect.

Finish the look by taking a fan brush and applying the same burgundy eyeshadow to the top of the cheekbones.
