Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays – Holiday Makeup On The Go

If your holiday party calendar is more packed than LA’s 405 Freeway during rush hour, that means you will be going out straight from work, with no time to go home and re-do your makeup from scratch.

Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee, who has worked her magic on Kiera Knightley, says it’s easy to take your makeup from day to night if you start with light, wearable colors.

“We’re moving away from that very heavy kind of smoky eye that we’ve seen in previous years and we’re using softer browns, beiges, taupes and bronze colors. It’s still smoky but softer,” Kate says. “It’s approachable and not too heavy.”

DRAMATIC EYES
The first step to transform your day look into nighttime glam is to intensify the eye makeup that’s already there. Kate starts by lining the inside rim of the eye with a Chanel brown colored eye pencil called Amber.

“It just makes the eyes pop more.” Next take the medium color in your eye shadow palette – Kate suggests a soft brown and blend it in a bit more through the lash line underneath the eye, so you are getting more of a smoky eye. Then add more mascara. “It takes about five minutes and the result is a stronger eye.”

GOLDEN SKIN
We’re not talking spray tan – just a sprinkle of gold on the skin. Chanel’s Gold Highlighting Powder is very subtle and Kate says, “it’s just a new refreshing approach to a gold twinkle. It’s nice under the cheekbones and along the jaw line. If you’re wearing an off-the-shoulder dress go down across the clavicle, along the arms and on top of the shoulders. It’s a pretty versatile product.”

LIP SERVICE
Kate uses Rouge Allure in Ardent, a pretty pink lipstick with little flecks of gold.

“You can creep it just over the top of the lip line just to make the lips look a little bit fuller, but avoid doing that at the bottom because it can end up looking a bit messy,” Kate says.

To finish the look, Kate uses Gold Shine Glossimer on top of the lipstick adding more drama for evening.

“Hopefully someone will want to take you under the mistletoe,” she says!
