Glam Slam Makeup Mondays: How To Wear Color

The days are longer, the weather is warmer and flowers are in full bloom. So are the stars, who are opting for fresh bright colors that are perfect for Spring. What’s the best way to incorporate color into your own makeup look? Wende Zomnir, founding partner & Executive Creative Director at Urban Decay, shares her tips for being bold and beautiful like Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys and Amanda Bynes, who are fans of the brand and aren’t afraid to wear color.

“If you’re new to wearing color, I always recommend picking a look you like out of a magazine and practice the application on yourself right before washing your face at bedtime,” says Wende. “Feel free to experiment, be bold and try something new because it’s going right down the drain. And when it’s time to rock Spring’s colorful new makeup, you’ve already taken the guesswork out of achieving a celeb-worthy look.”

“I am seeing lots of celebrities like Rachel McAdams, Sandra Bullock and Natalie Portman looking gorgeous and glamorous wearing a crimson or bright berry lip on the red carpet. Jilted and Gash from Urban Decay are beautiful shades for giving you a bold lip that looks pretty and dramatic. Just remember, keep the eyes sheer, neutral and slightly shimmery. Lining only the upper lash line in black or dark brown adds a little drama without adding weight and doesn’t compete with a sexy, strong lip.”

“Eyes are also in full bloom. I got up this morning and felt drawn to a vibrant, iridescent purple eyeshadow called Flash and rimmed my entire eye (upper and lower lids) with it. And I am seeing celebrities really accenting eyes with unexpected pops of color. Leighton Meester looks amazing in Glamour Magazine wearing a sparkling, vibrant navy. Ink For Eyes in Binge, with a dusting of our new Stardust Eyeshadow in Retrograde, will give you this look. Kate Beckinsale lit up her eyes by rimming them with a sparkling aqua-colored shadow like Stardust in Atmosphere, then accenting them with a rich, long-lasting black pencil… 24/7 in Zero is the best! Recent fashion spreads featuring supermodel Lily Cole showcase her eyes with thick smudges of rich violet and a generous helping of violet glitter all over the lids. Color is everywhere, it’s easy to wear and creates an instant update for your look.”
