Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Perfect Your Faux Glow

Hopefully you are being diligent about protecting your skin and staying out of the sun this Summer. Doesn’t mean you have to look as pale as Edward or any of the other “Twilight” vamps though.

COVERGIRL Celebrity Makeup Artist, Molly R. Stern, who has worked with Leighton Meester, Ellen DeGeneres, Mandy Moore and Amy Adams, shares tips for getting faux glow gorgeous!

GLAM SLAM: What is the number one mistake and what should you avoid?
Molly: When going for a faux glow look, the number one mistake I see gals do is use too much! Keep it light and opt for a warm shade that isn’t too dark.

GS: Is there a certain product to pick for each skin type (fair, medium, dark)?
Molly: I always worry about it looking fake. The easiest to use is a mineral dusting powder, I love COVERGIRL TRUblend microminerals Bronzer because it’s sheer, so great for all skin tones and has a hint of sparkle. Perfect for that added warmth the skin needs.

When applying sunless tanner, always begin by exfoliating your entire face and body beforehand. After doing so, apply tanner generously using the palms of your hands. Continue to rub evenly over body in small, circular motions to avoid streaking. Start from your feet and work your way up to your face.

Allow at least 10 minutes to dry before putting on any tight-fitting clothing.

A helpful tip: wash hands every 5-10 minutes during the application process to avoid staining. Also, after tanner has dried, don’t be afraid to scrub elbows and knees, to ensure an even glow. Lastly, don’t be overly precise about it.

People spend too much time in the details of application; it’s okay to just go for it!
