Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays – Summer’s Gorgeous Glow

If you are like me and avoid the sun, but still want that sun kissed glow, print out this page and tape it to your mirror.

Makeup maven Sonia Kashuk, who’s worked her magic on practically half of Hollywood, (yep, that’s her in the photos with Cindy Crawford and Keri Russell), is here with tips for how to get a natural golden glow using her affordable makeup available at Target.

I especially like her tip about “number 3.” Keep reading to see what I’m talking about.

SONIA’S TIPS:
“After moisturizing, always begin with a primer to retexturize and prep the skin. My vitamin-enriched Primer Vitamin Serum creates a smooth, even surface to work on and helps to deliver a beautiful, flawless application. Once the primer has sunken into skin, begin with foundation or tinted moisturizer depending on the coverage you want. Make sure you choose a formula that reflects light for a luminous, radiant finish such as my Perfecting Luminous Foundation or Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. Skin in its most natural state is not flat and matte, so you always want to incorporate some of this inherent brightness.”

“Always test color on your face to ensure you are using the correct shade. You know you have the right color match if you can’t see it when blended into the skin. Set the liquid products with a super light dusting of a loose powder such as my Brightening Powder, which can be used over almost anything to illuminate, blend, brighten and set makeup. An airy brush, such as my Large Duo Fibre Multipurpose Brush, will deliver the lightest application of powder, further ensuring a subtle finish.”

“Next, you’re ready to apply bronzer, the fundamental product for creating a gorgeous glow. Depending on your coloring, use a light brush such as my Large Duo Fibre Multipurpose Brush or a dense brush, like my Medium Multipurpose Powder Brush. When it comes to different skin tones, application is key. For instance, light skin requires a light application. Don’t layer on the bronzer if you are fair. Sweep color over the entire face, concentrating on the areas the natural sun would hit. Move the brush in a motion as if you are tracing the number 3 from the temples, to the cheeks, to the chin and brush over the t-zone. Once you have achieved tone with your bronzer, add a pop of color to the apples of the cheeks with my Beautifying Blush in Sunset or Flamingo. If you want more definition, use a tiny drop of the Super Sheer Shimmering Highlighter to illuminate the cheekbone and bridge of the nose.”

“Once you have flawless, glowing skin you can determine the aesthetic of the look by varying your color choice. Bronzed eyes go beautifully with bronzed skin so try my Bronzed Beauty eye quad for a gilded look. For added definition, use my Dramatically Defining Long Wear Gel Liner in Cocoa at the lash line, applying the color with my Bent Eye Liner Brush for extra precision. Curl lashes with my Dramatically Defining Eyelash Curler and apply three coats of mascara. Or, if you really want drama, play around with some false lashes, remembering to choose a natural style such as my Full Volume Eyelashes, to avoid looking artificial. Save the lips for last, since this product usually comes off first. To extend the wear of lip color, begin by lining the entire mouth. Laying a dry application of product under a liquid color will extend wear. Be sure to go back and soften out the edges to avoid a strong defined shape. Next apply a coordinating shade of lipstick to the entire lip. For the look featuring coral blush like my Sunset, try Sunrise Lip Definer and Coraline Luxury Lip Color. If you used a bright pink blush shade like Flamingo, Petal Lip Definer and Azalea Luxury Lip Color will complete this stunning Summer look.”
