It is mid-summer and the heat is on!
Glam Slam loves the warmer temperatures and the season’s cute, skin-baring looks. But, I’ve had it with my makeup sweating off my face, my mascara running down my cheek and don’t even get me started on my smudged eye-makeup.
We all know, it can be a challenge to look pulled together in the hot days of summer – even when you’re makeup is minimal.
“It’s no secret that heat and humidity work to raise our body temperature resulting in sweat and increased oil production on the face and the body,” reveals celebrity makeup artist Laura Geller, who adds, “This ‘makeup meltdown’ as I like to call it results in smeared, smudged eye makeup, foundation beading up on the skin and a loss of color’s vibrancy and wear.”
Don’t sweat it: Ms. Geller has melt-proof tips, adding, “First summertime is about a healthier, more simplified approach to fashion and beauty. Skin looks best when it’s healthy and radiant, accented with natural color or color that isn’t completely opaque or harsh. I always suggest starting with a lighter-weight foundation or BB or CC Crème. To help eye makeup stay put, Laura suggests using a water-proof primer to make eye-liners and shadow sweat-proof. Also, always carry blotting papers in your bag, they quickly absorb the oil and sweat but not the makeup.
To boost your summer glow, Laura says a good bronzer is your go-to product. “Make it modern and everyday wearable by choosing a matte finish. Bronze below the neck too with a formula that is enhanced with sheen and luminescence.”
Finish off your summer look with a swipe of liquid lipstick in pink or berry tones.
