Glam Slam: March Madness!

I am going through my own March Madness right now… only mine has nothing to do with college basketball and everything to do with my wardrobe. I’m assuming it has something to do with being pregnant, but I am so unhappy with my clothes that I am unloading a lot of them, selling bags of clothing to a local resale shop and donating two trunk-loads of stuff to charity.

If I keep this up, I’m not gonna have anything left to wear!

Should I blame this mass closet cleansing on hormones? I do know that most of the clothes I bought for fall and winter I now HATE. Yes, HATE to the point that I never want to see or wear them again. Maybe I associate them with the early stages of pregnancy when I felt yucky and nauseous all the time.

To get to the bottom of it, I asked Donna Pall, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) who has been in practice for 30 years, to weigh in.

“When we look at our wardrobe, it is often a question of identity–who am I today, what represents me to myself and others,” Donna says. “It can be a very deep question if we look at our relationship to our wardrobe as a reflection of who we feel we are.”

Wow. That IS deep. I had no idea.

Maybe I need to sign up for some therapy… or at least a little retail therapy, so I will have something to wear that makes me happy! At any rate, at least others are benefitting from my wardrobe ruthlessness, including my mom and sister who received a couple of jam-packed boxes of clothes and shoes. Needless to say, they are loving the action.
