Glam Slam: Onstage With Stacy London

I hit the road this weekend with TLC’s “What Not To Wear” star Stacy London, who is headlining an award winning nationwide Westfield Style Tour put together by the producers of New York Fashion Week. I had the honor of being invited to join her at the Westfield Topanga mall as a style expert. Whoo hoo, so fun!

Stacy’s appearances are “talk show style” complete with stage, DJ, audience, trend fashion shows and guest experts. It’s a sweet set up! The other guest expert was Glamour Mag’s Jen Weinberg, whom I have met before and is adorable.

Jen and I met with Stacy “backstage” before the show as the finishing touches of her hair and makeup were being done, and it was so fun to reconnect with Stacy—it’s been way too long since I’ve seen her! We caught up on work, friends and fashion. I told Stacy that my husband and two year old were coming to watch the show and how my husband joked that he was going to put our daughter in a bad outfit so Stacy could give her a makeover!

Stacy was chic, as always, wearing a leopard cardigan, cream blouse and green pencil skirt from H & M. She can mix prints like nobody’s business! She paired the ensemble with a unique neon and rhinestone Tom Binns necklace and to-die-for Alexandre Birman strappy heels. She also wore three Alexis Bittar bangles, which she joked that she wore just for me. I’ve emailed Stacy on several occasions when I see her on TV asking about the jewelry she’s wearing, and it seems like more often than not, it’s usually Alexis Bittar!

She saw the silver sequined jacket I planned to wear on stage and asked—is that an IRO jacket? Now that is someone who knows fashion! Yes, I had just bought the jacket and Stacy was telling everyone about the French brand and that she’d bought a nearly identical version in gold. She then came over and “styled” me, showing how when you run your hand over the sequins they change color, which in turn, changes the look of the jacket.

Finally, it was showtime! Stacy got a rock star’s welcome from hundreds of fans. She then invited Jen and me onstage and we talked fashion for a while, mainly about what is unique about fashion here in Southern California, as well as workwear must-haves and topics like age appropriate clothing.

Then, Stacy takes questions from the audience and they ask her questions about “What Not To Wear,” how she got into fashion and specific style questions. Stacy delivers her style advice with the tell-it-like-it-is attitude we’ve all come to expect!

The show also consists of trend fashion shows featuring real women modeling clothes that are available at the mall. There are also free makeovers and style sessions with “Style for Hire” stylists trained by Stacy. There’s an enormous “Style Closet” filled with all the latest clothing and accessories and the stylists help shoppers with looks that work for their budget and body type. It’s all very fun, informative and inclusive.

Thanks, Stacy, for including me—loved every minute of it!
