Glam Slam: Prom Beauty 2011

Not only is Hollywood a huge trendsetter when it comes to what to wear to Prom, the red carpet is also a great place for beauty inspiration.

Teen Vogue reveals the trends that are big this year.

ORANGEY RED LIPS
Bright, bold and fun, orangey red lips are youthful but still sophisticated. Looks best paired with a clean eye and pulled back hair! Rihanna and Katy Perry are both beauty adventuresses who’ve pulled off the look – albeit with a lot more embellishment.

METALLIC WINGED EYES
A gunmetal, silver or gold winged liner adds a subtle but sleek accent to your makeup. Looks pretty with a soft pink lip! Emma Roberts rocked this exact look at Elton John’s Oscar party. Soft, pretty and princessy, but with a smoky edge.

LASHES GALORE
Lush, gorgeous lashes are always Prom perfect! Looks lovely paired with a candy apple red glossy lip or for a ‘60s twist, a nude lip. Hailee Steinfeld’s eyes have been sporting Bambi-worthy, doe-eyed lashes lately. She keeps the rest of her makeup clean and lets her eyes do the talking. ‘Modern Family’s’ Sarah Hyland also plays her up eyes for a ‘60s Twiggy effect.

BRAIDS
A soft, romantic Grecian-inspired braid is the perfect for a Prom-princess. Looks oh-so-pretty with a dreamy makeup palette: soft pinks, dove grey or lilacs. Elle Fanning recently wore a braid to the screening/premiere of ‘Somewhere’—she looked perfectly enchanting.

BOMBSHELL HAIR
Big, gorgeous hair never goes out of style – and is versatile enough to be worn with any style dress. Keep the look sophisticated by keeping makeup on the spare side, so hair can steal the spotlight! Think of Jennifer Lawrence’s ultra-lush blonde mane at the Oscars!
